Highlights from the Liberia FETP Intermediate Cohort 8 Workshop 2

The Liberia Field Epidemiology Training Program (LFETP) recently concluded its second workshop for Intermediate Cohort 8 from April 8 to April 19, 2024. Throughout this intensive session, participants explored a diverse array of crucial topics, covering Measures of Association, Bias and Causation, Stratified Analysis, Measures of Disease Occurrence, Statistical Testing, Sample Size Determination, Group Project Study Protocol Development, Conducting Surveys, Scientific Communication, ODK Questionnaire Development, Measures of Validity, Study Designs including Cross-Sectional Analytic Studies, Cohort Studies, and Case-Control Studies, Data Analysis with Epi-info, alongside hands-on sessions focused on applying Geographic Information Systems in Public Health data analysis.

In addition to the theoretical aspects, participants actively engaged in practical exercises, group projects, and journal club sessions to enhance their epidemiological understanding and application skills. A highlight of the workshop was a special training session on the Resident-driven project tracking tool (ReDPeTT) facilitated by the US CDC Headquarters. This session provided invaluable hands-on experience in project management and tracking, empowering residents with essential skills for their epidemiological endeavors.
